The Lancaster District Local Strategic Partnership (LDLSP) have agreed to fund Community Grants. Community Groups can apply for a grant if they can demonstrate they will be contributing to the priorities of the LDLSP; this is not as difficult as it may sound and more guidance is available with the application pack.

Background & Purpose of the Grant
Community Grants is a small grant scheme designed to assist groups in Lancaster, Morecambe and the surrounding rural areas to undertake small projects that enable their local people to take part in community activities. The Lancaster District Local Strategic Partnership (LDLSP) has allocated the Valuing People Thematic Group funding to implement a Community Grants programme to support delivery of the Lancaster District Sustainable Community Strategy. It is being run on behalf of the LDLSP by Lancaster District CVS, a copy of the Sustainable Community Strategy can be downloaded from: www.lancaster.gov.uk/lsp.
Who can apply?
Any group that is a voluntary, community or not for profit organisation and is based within the Lancaster District boundary can apply for a grant.
How much can you apply for?
You can apply for one Grant between the value of £250 and £2000 before the end of this project, March 2012.
What kind of projects can apply?
Any project that takes place within the Lancaster District which helps local people ‘take part’ in their local community, and which meets one or more of the priorities identified under Valuing People as outlined in the Lancaster District Local Stategic Partnership’s Sustainable Community Strategy:
1. Improve community cohesion, a sense of belonging and taking part by promoting positive relationships between the diverse and emerging communities and groups in the Lancaster District.
2. Increase the capacity of the voluntary, community and faith sector in order to strengthen community engagement and enable the sector to act as advocates for the service providers to our local communities.
3. Enable older people within Lancaster District to continue to contribute to all aspects of life, both economic and social and to receive appropriate support when needed.
4. Increase the number of carers receiving guidance and support in the District.
